Z - OLD - Seabourn Pride
Overview

The ship that started it all inspired one critic to declare that "Seabourn is in a class by itself." And in 1988, when the sleek, 10,000-ton Pride emerged from the Schichau Seebeckwerft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, that was literally true. At that time, most ships of Pride''s size (and there were more then than now) carried more than 400 guests. Seabourn Pride, christened by Ambassador Shirley Temple Black, topped out at half that many. The idea that every guest sailed in an expansive, ocean-view suite was revolutionary. The concept of open-seating dining accommodating all guests was exceptional. And the notion of including nearly everything for the cost of the fare was a rare thing as well. But the most important element of the Seabourn experience, to founding president Warren S. Titus, was the unparalleled level of personalized service provided to guests. Hand-picked staff, recruited from the finest European hospitality schools and hostelries, are re-trained and managed according to the philosophy that every request is a golden opportunity to create delight, that the unexpected pleasure is what truly makes an experience memorable, and that the rendering of the very best service is a product of professional pride, not influenced by the expectation of a gratuity. That remains a core value of all Seabourn ships today. By a trick of history, Seabourn Pride and its sisters remain as exceptional today as they were when launched - in a class by themselves.

Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend are virtually identical. For complete descriptions of features and amenities on these lovely sisters, read also Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend.

Features

Constellation Lounge - Situated all the way forward on Deck 8, directly over the navigation bridge, this lounge offers panoramic views, Early Risers' coffee and tea, occasional gatherings for fun events like team trivia quizzes and Liar's Club, daily afternoon tea and quiet music for conversation after dinner.

Sky Bar - Occupying a terrace overlooking the pool deck below, this is a popular place to gather for drinks in the open air. Occasional lunches and dinners are offered at the Sky Grill, serving grilled specialties and simple sides.

Veranda Cafe/Restaurant 2 (Deck 7 Aft) - During the day, the Veranda Cafe is a popular option for lavish buffet-style breakfasts and lunches enjoyed either indoors or outside overlooking the wake. In the evening, it is transformed into Restaurant 2, alternately serving innovative small-plates tasting menus or regionally themed bistro-style dinners.

Swimming Pool/Whirlpool Spas - A small plunge swimming pool is located just forward of the Veranda Cafe entry. A pair of large whirlpool spas forms the centerpiece of an area of open deck midships for relaxing on loungers in a mix of sun and shade. This area is also the location for occasional Movies Under the Stars on deck.

The Spa at Seabourn (Deck 7 Midships) - An award-winning spa offering a wide range of treatments and rituals by highly skilled staff. A fully equipped gym and full-service beauty salon share this space with men's and women's saunas, steam rooms, and treatment facilities including wraps, dry float and multi-discipline massage.

The Club (Deck 6 Aft) - This lively bar and lounge is a popular place for dancing to live music before and after dinner. Later, a DJ plays recorded music into the wee hours.

The Casino (Deck 6) - Adjacent to The Club is a small casino offering blackjack, Poker, Roulette and slot machines.

The Boutique ( Deck 6 Midships) - Just off the main staircase is a duty-free shop for fine jewelry, scents, fashions and sundries.

The Library ( Deck 6 Midships) - A quiet, comfortable room lined with fiction, nonfiction and reference books, as well as magazines, newspapers and an extensive collection of classic and current films on DVD for loan.

Magellan Lounge (Deck 5 Aft) - The ship's main show lounge is large enough to accommodate all guests. During the day, it is the site of lectures, cooking demonstrations, movies and other functions. A live band plays for dancing before dinner, and after-dinner entertainment includes cabaret performances, comedy and classical recitals.

Computer Center (Deck 5 Midships) - On the starboard side just forward of the show lounge is a computer center with four workstations equipped with a complete Microsoft Office suite of software and web browsers, and a printer.

Reception Lobby (Deck 5 Midships) - Circling the Main Staircase, business desks for the Pursers and Tours offices, and a card room where bridge lessons and tournaments are frequently scheduled.

Forward Whirlpool Spa (Deck 5 Forward) - Located all the way forward on open deck is a single large whirlpool spa.

Self Service Launderette (Deck 4 Forward) - A complimentary launderette for guests' use.

The Restaurant (Deck 3 Midships) - The ship's main dining venue is an elegant room capable of seating all guests. Breakfasts, luncheons and dinners are served in an open-seating style, inviting guests to dine where, when and with whom they wish at every meal. During extended dinner hours, guests can order from The Restaurant menu and have their meal served by a waiter in their suite.

Medical Facility (Deck 3 Forward) - The ship has a small, simple medical facility staffed by a physician and a nurse, capable of short-term treatment of illnesses and injuries. It is neither equipped nor staffed for ongoing treatment of many pre-existing conditions and any guest with a condition that requires such treatment should contact Seabourn in advance of booking to ensure that their condition can be accommodated.

Water Sports Marina (Deck 3 Aft) -The ship has a fold-out water sports Marina that can be deployed when the ship is at anchor in some locations. Once deployed, the Marina provides a platform from which guests can enjoy board sailing, water-skiing, banana boat rides, pedal boats and kayaks. The Marina also has a stainless steel mesh enclosure that permits protected swimming in the sea.

Our fleet of ultra-luxury ships, comprised of all ocean-front suites, carries between 264 and 600 guests each, brought to life by an award-winning team numbering nearly as many as the guests. Seabourn’s ships attract accomplished people who enjoy traveling well and sharing unforgettable moments and adventures with other interesting, like-minded people. A great many of them have found Seabourn to be their preferred method of travel and return regularly to sail with us again and again.

Seabourn History
Seabourn has been reinventing small-ship ultra-luxury cruising for over 35 years. In 1986, a small group of luxury hospitality and cruising executives embarked with a goal to provide the relaxed elegance previously available only to owners of the world’s most fabulous private yachts. Click here to learn more about Seabourn’s history. Our fleet’s first three ships: Seabourn Pride, entered service in 1988, Seabourn Spirit entered service in 1989, followed by Seabourn Legend in 1991. Over the next two decades, these three ships built an extraordinary legacy of personalized, intuitive service and guest-centric experiences.

In 2009, Seabourn raised the bar with the debut of Seabourn Odyssey, hailed as “a game-changer for the ultra-luxury segment. Seabourn launched two identical sisters, Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in 2011. Although larger than the original Seabourn ships, these 3 ships carry just 458 guests and offer a wealth of amenities made possible by the highest ratio of space per guest in the cruise industry, including the largest spa on any luxury ship and generous private verandas on 90 percent of their suites. Our first 600-passenger ship, Seabourn Encore, was delivered in 2016 and a second 600-passenger ship, Seabourn Ovation, was delivered 2018. This new class of ocean vessels featured private verandas for every suite and expanded Seabourn’s complimentary fine dining offerings.

Seabourn Expansion: Expedition Cruises
In 2022, Seabourn redefined expedition travel with the launch of our first ultra-luxury, purpose-built expedition ship Seabourn Venture, joined by her sister ship, Seabourn Pursuit in 2023. Designed and purpose-built specifically for expedition cruising in unprecedented elegance and ease, these ships will bring travelers further, deeper, and closer to the most coveted and remote destinations on earth. Onboard these incredible vessels, you will be joined by our world-class 24-person Expedition Team, delivering immersive experiences, and guiding you throughout your entire expedition. You will explore a world where ultra-luxury meets adventure in state-of-the-art custom-built 6-person submarines, Zodiacs, kayaks, on other-worldly hikes and nature walks and more.
