Overview

Arcadia - exclusively for adults, mid-sized ship:

Combining the chic with the classic, Arcadia offers a relaxed pace, stylish surroundings and more than a hint of extravagance. Arcadia's signature features such as her exterior glass-fronted lifts and expansive art collection, featuring no less than 3,000 works of art, create a sophisticated air. Foodies will be spoilt for choice in the two-tier main restaurant, or for a treat Atul Kochar's spice sensation Sindhu will set your taste buds alight.

Arcadia's refit:

Arcadia, one of our much-loved ships exclusively for adults, has just returned from a spell in dry-dock where work was completed to improve the guest experience on board and reinvigorate her unique character and key features. Having entered service in 2005, she's won over many hearts thanks to her relaxed and intimate atmosphere, classic elegance and array of features designed for pampering and indulgence. However, it's now time for a bit of a spruce up. We've listened to guest feedback and are investing in a range of updates to the Suites, public areas, bars (such as the Piano Bar and Spinnaker Bar), and main restaurants including The Belvedere food court. We've partnered with RPW Design, one of the world's leading hospitality interior design practices, to ensure the ultimate levels of design luxury and comfort. Now that Arcadia is back, we can't wait to reveal her improved charms to loyal fans and a new generation of cruisers.

The Palladium

Arcadia's impressive three tier theatre, The Palladium, is located at the very forward end of the ship.

Inside you will find comfortable theatre-style-seating arcs around the stage in three tiers, affording you excellent views of the stage. In The Palladium, the drama is not confined to the stage, as the decor adds a theatrical touch of its own. A rich colour scheme of royal blue, violet, midnight blue and silver sets off the main attraction - the shows themselves! Suede and crushed velvet adds an opulent touch, ensuring The Palladium has all the magic and anticipation of the West End!

The Screening Room

This 30-seat boutique cinema is Arcadia's dedicated space for showing films on board.

You'll find the cinema positioned on the starboard side of Promenade Deck, aft of the forward lifts and adjacent to the Horizon Suite.

The Globe

Located in the heart of the ship on F Deck, The Globe provides a wealth of entertainment.

You enter this room from the starboard side corridor, and as you do so, you'll be met by a shining black marble bar with small starlights sparkling overhead. As the name suggests the room is circular and its subtle lighting brings a warm ambience to the room in the form of recessed lights and elegant lamps. Curvy seating and a black and gold colour scheme continue the room's classy atmosphere and fluid lines. Here you might catch the latest film release on its cinema screen, attend an art auction, enjoy a late night cabaret or boogie the night away to some live music.

Monte Carlo Casino

The Monte Carlo Casino is a great place to continue a fun night out after post dinner drinks or a show.

The Monte Carlo Casino is conveniently located on F Deck forward next to the theatre and nightclub. It is adorned with rich fabrics including purple leather chairs around purple felt gaming tables and gives the casino a sumptuous, glamorous feel. In addition to the roulette table, two blackjack tables and three card poker table, you will find over 40 slot machines. The fun carpet complements the room well, reflecting the colour scheme of the yellows and purples of the furniture.

Connection Speed

Being able to access the internet in the middle of the ocean is quite the technological accomplishment. However, due to the fact that the internet signal has to travel via satellites over 20,000 miles above the earth, service speeds are significantly impacted. Even the geographical location of your ship (mountainous landscapes in particular) and the weather can affect the on board service. To maximise your satellite internet service speeds, you'll find the strongest Wi-Fi signal in public venues. You may also find that off peak periods - early morning, late evening and port days - provide a better service.

Skype and Sideo Calling Connections

These services are available with The Works package, however please be aware that unpredictable satellite connectivity can impact the quality of the service.

Printing and Scanning

Should you wish to print pages in the Library, this will be charged at 30p per black and white page. If you require a document to be digitally scanned, please speak to reception (prices are subject to change).

The History of Arcadia

The name Arcadia stems from Greek history

Arcadia was a mountainous and picturesque district of Greece inhabited by shepherds and beautiful young women. In poetic fantasy Arcadia was a pastoral paradise and the birthplace of Pan, the god of Flocks and Shepherds, who wandered the mountains playing his panpipes. Today it is commonly associated with contentment and rural happiness.

Arcadia: Past to Present

The name Arcadia has followed us through several eras from 1954 to the present day. Each ship of this name catered for the needs of the British passenger, and the evolution over time can be seen below.

During the time period of 1887 - 1915, the name was christened upon a ship with a Gross Tonnage of 6,603 and a Passenger Capacity of 410.

Following the the second world war, the Arcadia was brought back during the years of 1954 - 1979. This ship supported more than three times the passengers of its predecessor. This Arcadia had a Gross Tonnage of 29,664 and a total Passenger Capacity of 1,405.

More recently, history has been paid a tribute during the years of 1989 - 2003. During those years the name Arcadia belonged to a magnificent ship of 63,524 Gross Tons and a Passenger Capacity of 1,458. This ship provided a modest increase to the number of passengers but an enormous increase to the available amenities to be experienced while onboard.

Now, starting in 2005, the Arcadia will be used in the P&O Fleet on a super liner of 85,000 Gross Tons with enough room to accommodate 1,952 honored guests (a 34 percent increase of the total passenger capacity).

Life on Board

Contemporary cruising

Arcadia's contemporary and innovative experience is not just confined to her stylish rooms and decor. You'll find that everything from the cuisine to the spa facilities, daytime activities and evening entertainment possess a modern flair. Arcadia's accommodation comes complete with flat screen televisions. Her rooms are adorned with modern art works by leading British artists. And guest speakers invite you to learn about anything from garden design to wine tasting, color therapy and Reiki.

In fact, choices abound on board. So you can be enjoying a wonderfully leisurely time in Arcadia's luxurious spa one moment, and be tearing around the sports court the next. Or savoring a relaxed poolside snack in the afternoon and being wowed by spectacular cuisine by evening. Watching a grand scale production and aerial acrobatics in the three-tier theatre or being entertained by a lone comedian, center stage. Varied, exciting and eclectic, life on board child-free Arcadia is certain to provide you with some unforgettable experiences.

From Coffee to Cocktails

Tea and Coffee Around the Clock

You will find a kettle, cups, saucers and teaspoons as well as teabags, various coffee sachets, sugar and milk in your cabin. This will be stocked up when necessary by your cabin steward. Tea and coffee is also available free from the buffet area. Alternatively the teapigs range is available to buy in select coffee shops, bars and pubs. Costa coffee can be purchased from Java and Grab & Go outlets.

Caffe Vivo

Adorned with brown leather sofas, high tables and stools and wooden floors, Caffe Vivo provides a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Relax over a delectable cookie or pastry with a magazine, refresh your palate with a smoothie or freshly squeezed juice, or opt for a lunchtime snack. With anything from salads and bagels, to crostini and noodles on the menu, Caffe Vivo is much more than simply a coffee bar.

The Crow's Nest

On Sun Deck forward is where you will find the appropriately named Crow's Nest. This relaxed lounge offers visitors sweeping panoramic ocean views and a convivial atmosphere. By day, you can sit back and relax with a book in one hand and a coffee in the other, pausing every now and again to enjoy the view. At night you'll be able to enjoy your favourite tipple to the sound of tinkling ivories. Jazz nights, cabaret and dancing all make the Crow's Nest a perfectly relaxed and elegant post-dinner venue.

The Piano Bar

Situated at the very heart of the ship on Promenade Deck is the tastefully designed Piano Bar. Its position at the top of the atrium means it benefits from a close view of the intricate glass ceiling created by the artist Jo Downs. The light emanating from its rich hues of purples, pinks and blues combines with light wood walls and a low ceiling to give the Piano Bar an intimate evening feel. As the name suggests, in pride of place is the piano, where the resident pianist provides a backdrop to your conversation.

Spinnaker Bar

Nestled between Intermezzo and the Meridian Restaurant, is the yacht-inspired Spinnaker Bar. Its sophisticated yachting theme is evident in its contemporary decor, featuring wood, steel and chrome, it has porthole style mirrors and ship memorabilia. As it is just off the central walkway and close to the restaurants and evening entertainment, you will find that it is the perfect meeting place for a pre or post dinner tipple.

Pool Bars

At the stern of Lido Deck, just forward of the Aquarius Pool is the Aquarius Bar. Enjoy a brief respite from the sun on one of its stools or stay on your deck lounger and have a refreshing cocktail - or two! The Neptune Bar is protected by the sliding glass Skydome, including the Neptune Pool and Neptune Grill, so you won't have to worry about it raining on your fun!

Intermezzo

Make your evening that little bit more special with a visit to Intermezzo, an exclusive cocktail and Champagne bar located on F Deck. Luxuriate with a glass of Champagne or your favourite cocktail. Feature columns are dressed in rich sheer curtains, adding soft lighting by evening when the columns are lit from within. Classy, modern and the place to be seen, Intermezzo provides an elegant backdrop for an unforgettable evening.

The Rising Sun

Walk into The Rising Sun and the only thing to remind you you're not in a fine old country pub may be the ever-changing view from the window. As befits such a traditional establishment, there's a jukebox and snug bar creating a buzzy pub atmosphere, with everything from darts, karaoke, live music, pub quizzes and major sporting event screenings to keep you entertained.

East Bar

You will find East Bar at the highest point of the ship - Sky Deck. As you enter this colonial style bar you are welcomed by an array of drawings and paintings created by Martin Williams, which form a travelogue of journeys through Asia. As the sun sets and warm ambient light pours into the room, you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink before dining on the most wonderful Asian cuisine in the nearby Sindhu, or stop by later for a post-dinner drink.

Drinks packages

A range of drinks packages can be purchased on board including wine, soft drink and coffee packages.
